描写文就是用语言文字来描绘某人，某地，某物或某个情景。一般通过表现感觉的细节展开，描述人们通过视，听，味，嗅，触觉所得到的印象与感受。此类细节很多，写作时要精心挑选那些能够表现所描绘事物的突出品质和主要特征的细节和实例。

描写某人时，不应仅仅罗列有关外貌的细节，而应进一步揭示人物的性格特征和思想感情。这些可以通过他的言谈，举止，对待他人的态度来表现。重要的是抓住他与众不同的特点，与他人相似之处可以忽略。

小范文My new roommate：

It was my first day at the university. I walked into the building where I was going to live and saw my new roommate. He was thin, short, and dark. His hair was like a bundle of straw. His dirty clothes and tired look were clearly signs of a long travel. His clothes were made of cheap cloth. The coat was too short and the trousers too loose. And he wore a pair of rubber shoes, which were very unfashionable. He did not look like a smart freshman at all.
